Review & Giveaway: Elixir by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Elixir (Covenant, #3.5)Elixir by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publisher:Spencer Hill Press
Release Date: November 27, 2012
Purchase: Amazon / Barnes & Noble
Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.
Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.
Even if it means making war against the gods.

My Thoughts:
Oh how I have missed this series.  I waited until I had Apollyon in my hands before starting Elixir because I knew I would just be  begging for more and after the way Deity ended I knew my poor heart wouldn’t be able to handle it. So now that I *squees* have Apollyon in my hands I have finally let myself read Elixir and On my gods was it so worth the wait.

This is a very short story that takes place after Alex has awakened and how everyone she loves tries to save her from herself and Seth.  I love Jennifer’s writing, there is just something about it that just grabs you and refuses to let go and even though I love Alex’s voice I love Aiden’s so much more.  I will admit I wasn’t Team Aiden from the start. After reading Deity my faith in Seth had diminished, but I was still proudly waving my Team Seth flag.  Now after consuming Elixir my poor little Team Seth flag is almost in the drawer.  Seth gave Alex what she needed in the previous books, Aiden pulled away and was so cruel ¾ of the time that I honestly had no love for the boy.  I wanted Alex to be with somebody who whispered sweet things in her ear and gave her everything he had, yes I know that there were obstacles and reasons why Aiden did what he did, but he was just so mean.  And now I have to eat my words because now I have gotten a glimpse into how Aiden feels and how strong he truly loves Alex.

Jennifer was brilliant for releasing this book. I know fans, myself included, loving reading chapters from her hero’s point of view and this one was amazing.  I loved seeing Aiden finally reveal his true feelings to everyone and put Alex first.  That is what I have wanted all along.  This book isn’t a happy ending by any means, but it does give us hope for the future if Aiden can break into Alex’s heart.

So *waves Team Aiden flag*  I am not totally on board but I am staring to feel the love.  I can’t wait to start Apollyon!

  12. This is the second JLA book review that I've stopped by today and the general consensus is that she's cruel to her readers. I don't mean that she's intentionally evil; it's just how she puts us through the wringer with her books. Lol. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huuuge fan but heck, I don't need the stress. :) Glad you're loving this series, Crystal!
