Waiting on Wednesday, #30

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases we can't wait to get our hands on.

Here's my selection for this week...

Thousand Words by Jennifer Brown
Publisher: Little Brown
Publication Date: May 21, 2013

Ashleigh's boyfriend, Kaleb, is about to leave for college, and Ashleigh is worried that he'll forget about her while he's away. So at a legendary end-of-summer pool party, Ashleigh's friends suggest she text him a picture of herself -- sans swimsuit -- to take with him. Before she can talk herself out of it, Ashleigh strides off to the bathroom, snaps a photo in the full-length mirror, and hits "send."

But when Kaleb and Ashleigh go through a bad breakup, Kaleb takes revenge by forwarding the text to his baseball team. Soon the photo has gone viral, attracting the attention of the school board, the local police, and the media. As her friends and family try to distance themselves from the scandal, Ashleigh feels completely alone -- until she meets Mack while serving her court-ordered community service. Not only does Mack offer a fresh chance at friendship, but he's the one person in town who received the text of Ashleigh's photo -- and didn't look.

Did you cringe like I did after reading that book description? EEEEP!!! See, that my friends is why we never... NEVER do that kind of stuff. Mean people out there... I'm telling you! A serious case of chagrin doesn't even come close to this situation. Well, that just leaves me even more curious how this mess turns out for Ashleigh. Definitely want to find out so to the top of my TBR this one goes.

Sooo, what book are you waiting on? Be sure to link me up!

  13. Agreed. I kind of "eeped" when I read the description above. But this is interesting and topical and, in this world where the internet makes split-second choices irrevocable, definitely worth adding to the tbr. Thanks! (Though I honestly can't believe Mack didn't look--well, will have to read.)

  15. Ooo, I've never heard of this book! It's, um, definitely a touchy subject! As a teen girl, I've never really sympathized with girls that did that sort of thing - are you kidding me!? You know better. But I still end up feeling bad for them - I am human lol, as are they. I WILL read this, because of the subject matter. Thank you for introducing me/us to this one! <3

  16. Great choice! People don't realize what they are doing when they send pics of themselves that they are committing a felony if they are under 18! Here's mine. http://christyscozycorners.blogspot.com/2013/02/waiting-on-wednesday-antigoddess-by.html
