Ever since a near-death-experience on the operating table, seventeen-year-old Arianne Wilson can see dead people. Just as she’s learned to accept her new-found talents, she discovers that the boy she’s had a crush on since freshman year, Niko Clark, is a Reaper.

At last they have something in common, but that doesn’t mean life is getting any easier. All while facing merciless bullying from the most powerful girl in school, Arianne’s world is turned upside down after Niko accidentally reaps the soul of someone she loves. This sends them both into a spiral that threatens to end Arianne’s life. But will Niko break his own Reaper’s code to save her? And what would the consequences be if he did?

My Thoughts:
This is my first official reaper book and I am hooked!  Reaping Me Softly was so much fun and I have to say Reapers have never been so hawt!

This story is the first in a planned trilogy so this one sets up the background and it does it quite well. We have Ari who is your typical teenage girl crushing on the boy that everyone wants, Ben her BFF since childhood, Darla the notorious bad girl who makes Ari's life hale, and Niko the boy of Ari's dreams.  Don't even think for a second that you know how this will all play out because I can guarantee that you are wrong.  The author did a great job at throwing in some curve balls and twists that really brought this typical high school storyline to another level.  Plus there are reapers that right there in itself is pretty awesome.   The history behind the whole reaper idea was really fascinating to me.  Like I said this is my first reaper book so everything is new to me and I loved the concept.  I am hoping that a few things will be a little tighter with the next book, but all in all I can't complain. Niko and Ari had some great moments together.  I am usually not an insta-love kinda person but I liked this one.  It just felt right in my opinion.  I can't wait to see more!

The story unfolds nicely and I for one am very excited to see the next installment.  If it is anything like this one I know I will gobble it up!

  2. I enjoyed this too, Crystal. I'm not a fan of insta-love but I did think they had wonderful chemistry. The mean girl aspect was a little different than the usual plotline and I liked that it shook things up a bit. Great review. :)
