Author Event & Giveaway: YA in the Sun

I had the pleasure of driving down south to the lovely library in Encinitas, CA which is located in San Diego to attend an amazing author event called YA in the Sun. I love visiting this town.  It’s right near the beach, and I have to say that their library is one of the coolest libraries around! With an ocean view and an urban look and feel… I could spend hours just hanging out there. I will definitely have to make another trip to simply spend more time in this book heaven.

Well, besides the wonderful library facilities they have in this quaint town, they hosted one of the BEST author events I’ve ever had the pleasure of attending!!  Just look at the amazing line-up! Their names link to their GR profiles so you can get an idea of the author star power that attended!

When I got there, I immediately purchased some books I’ve been wanting to add to my collection and as I was entering the event, the sweetest person started chatting it up with me. I have to admit, I was a little distracted because I was stuffing the books in my backpack and getting ready to enter this event. But before I headed inside I didn’t want to leave without introducing myself, and you’ll never guess who I was chatting with?? Yes! Lani Woodland author of Intrinsical. Pure excitement!!

This event was extremely intimate where you can just walk up to the authors and start chatting it up. I had to contain myself when I took a seat to review my author card and as I looked up, Marie Lu author of Legend took a seat next to me.  We started talking and I had to wonder... does this lady know how famous she is?? I felt like I was among rock stars! She was gracious enough to sign my author card and books, which we might have been breaking the rules by not waiting for the formal signing event, but she was a good sport about it. =}

It was fun to see these authors having a great time with the props and posing for their crowd. They had all sorts of fun attire and they seem to be having the best time dressing it up. I was able to get my author cards signed by all 20 authors in attendance and I’ll be including both in the giveaway bundles.

As the event progressed, they gave away a ton of books. Unfortunately, my number never got called, but I still walked away with a TON of swag including signed bookmarks and cool nail polish and pins. I was able to get all of my books signed and meet just about everyone in attendance. These authors really seemed to have a great time and it was definitely contagious because the crowd was all smiles and excitement.

Well, that was my experience at the YA in the Sun Author Event and I’m excited to share that I’ll be giving away two book bundles, each containing the Author Autograph Keepsake which has all 20 Authors’ Signatures, some awesome swag and signed book marks.
