Mega Manga Giveaway: Vampire Knight by Matsuri Hino Vol. 1 - 15

Today, I'm excited to share this giveaway with our WinterHaven followers. I've been addicted to the Vampire Knight manga series for a few years now. This is one of the only shojo manga series I've continued to read, and I always find myself looking forward to the next book! I love the story line; the art work is amazing; and the endings always have me pining for more. If you've never tried a manga before because you think you might not get the hang of the flow or feel the graphical representations will be too distracting, I can only encourage you to give just one a try before you get hooked. I love them!

Vampire Knight by Matsuri Hino
Publisher: VIZ Media

Yuki Cross has no memory of her past prior to the moment she was saved from a vampire attack ten years ago. She was adopted by the headmaster of Cross Academy, and now works alongside Zero to guard the Academy's secret. Cross Adademy is attended by two groups of students: the Day Class and the Night Class. At twilight, when the students of the Day Class return to their dorm, they cross paths with the Night Class on their way to school. Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu are the Guardians of the school, protecting the Day Class from the Academy's dark secret: the Night Class is full of vampires!

My Thoughts
In the Vampire Knight manga series, there are two groups of students who attend Cross Academy. There's the Day Class, where Yuki Cross and Kiryu Zero serve has Guardians, and the Night Class that is full of vampires. Yuki was attacked by a vampire ten years prior and has no memory preceding that event. She was adopted by the headmaster of Cross Academy and guards the Day Class alongside Zero, who has secrets that haunt him and his existence. Despite her past, Yuki believes that vampires and humans can peacefully coexist, but Zero feels differently.

As each installment is released, I continue to be amazed with the artwork and the detailed story that is masterfully depicted with such few words and intricate drawings. Matsuri Hino has a gift as a storyteller and artist. She does a flawless job of infusing back-story at just the right moments to hook the reader even further into her series. If you’ve never tried a manga series before, Vampire Knight is definitely the way to go.

I give this entire series 5 Snowflakes!!

  38. My oldest son (17) loves Manga. He and I devote at least one Saturday a month to watching whole series' on Netflix or on the internet. Together we will read books and the argue/discuss which is better. We joke around about how we should just create our own. He has my 7 year old hooked on High School of the Dead right now. I find it is an enjoyable break from reading novels and better than soap operas, lol. This is a series he mentioned we should check out.
Thanks for having a giveaway opportunity 8)
