Today at WinterHaven Books, we are participating in the blog tour for Poison by Bridget Zinn. This tour is very special and I am so proud that we get to help spread the word about this amazing book. I was lucky enough to read it a few weeks ago and man let me tell you it is definitely one you won't want to miss. While I was reading Poison I wasn't aware that Bridget had passed away in 2011. When I found out my heart immediately broke into a million pieces because even though I didn't personally know her I felt like through her book I did get to know a little about her. As readers you probably know what I am talking about and I promise that if you get the chance to read Poison you will feel what I felt. This blog tour is definitely one of the most important ones we have ever been a part of and I hope you enjoy our post which is about our "firsts".
Now, I'm proud to say that I stand here today as an obsessed avid reader with a huge amount of respect and admiration for wonderful and amazing talents that share their passion with us.
They were born to write. I was born to read.
Since the Twilight Series, I’ve been on countless other teams, including:
Team Adrian from Vampire Academy
Team Peeta from The Hunger Games
Team Keenan from The Wicked Lovely Series
Team Jace from The Mortal Instruments
Team Balthazar from The Evernight Series
Team Shane from Morganville
Team Warner from Shatter Me
And, that’s just naming a few of the countless teams I’ve rooted for. I’m not always on the most popular team, but I still manage to wave my flag with pride.=)
I hope you enjoyed reading a few of our firsts and I hope they made you think about a few of your own. This whole blog tour was inspired by the amazing book Poison by Bridget Zinn. If you haven't already been introduced to this book then take a look to see what you missing!

Sixteen-year-old Kyra, a highly-skilled potions master, is the only one who knows her kingdom is on the verge of destruction—which means she’s the only one who can save it. Faced with no other choice, Kyra decides to do what she does best: poison the kingdom’s future ruler, who also happens to be her former best friend.
But, for the first time ever, her poisoned dart . . . misses.
Now a fugitive instead of a hero, Kyra is caught in a game of hide-and-seek with the king’s army and her potioner ex-boyfriend, Hal. At least she’s not alone. She’s armed with her vital potions, a too-cute pig, and Fred, the charming adventurer she can’t stop thinking about. Kyra is determined to get herself a second chance (at murder), but will she be able to find and defeat the princess before Hal and the army find her?
Kyra is not your typical murderer, and she’s certainly no damsel-in-distress—she’s the lovable and quick-witted hero of this romantic novel that has all the right ingredients to make teen girls swoon.

continued to read and write until the day she died. Her last tweet was "Sunshine and a brand new book. Perfect."
Bridget wanted to make people laugh and hoped readers would enjoy spending time with the characters she created. As a librarian/writer she loved books with strong young women with aspirations. She also felt teens needed more humorous reads. She really wanted to write a book with pockets of warmth and happiness and hoped that her readers' copies would show the watermarks of many bath time reads.
