This book has hands down the best first chapter I have ever read!  I was so creeped out that I had to keep checking underneath my bed and I even had to turn my hall light on!  *shudders*  I usually shy away from thriller type books, but this one just grabs you and never lets go!

The story starts out very and I mean VERY creepy with Jennifer dealing with the nightmares in her mind.  I was so relived when the POV changed to Sam after that initial chapter because I don't think I could have handled being in Jennifer's mind for the whole book.  It was truly terrifying.  Sam's POV was the opposite of Jennifer's.  He is such a boy and we get to see him deal with bullies and peer pressure from a guys point of view which was fascinating.  In the beginning I thought this was just going to be about Sam trying to rescue Jennifer but my oh my was I wrong.  There are some major things going on throughout this book and I have to say I am just in shock over them all.  This is another one of those books where if I elaborate it will totally ruin it so you will just have to trust me that is awesome.

I really enjoyed this and remember this is definitely not my normal read.  I think I need to venture out more from now because I can't imagine missing out on this one.  Great book, wonderful characters, and amazing twists!

Excuse me a minute *pumps fist in the air and does a happy dance*  Okay sorry I had to gt that out of my system.  Let me tell you that I have been very skeptical about mermaid books, but I have loved each and everyone that I have read and this is definitely no exception.  This book has it all!  Adventure, action, suspense, love, passion EVERYTHING!  It was a roller coaster ride that I never wanted to end.

This book takes off where the first one left off, with Tempest embracing her mermaid side and swimming off into the sea with Kona.  Certain tragic events happen and she finds herself back to the one place she never thought she would see again, her home on land.  She goes to protect her family and in the process realizes that nothing is ever easy and she may lose everything that she never knew she wanted.    Deebs has written an awesome plot and I honestly never knew what was going to happen next.   I was blown away at her character development as well.  I saw a lot of strength in Tempest that most heroines don't have and that was just amazing.

The ending was just *sigh* so swoon worthy.  I am so excited that Tempest picked a certain someone because he stole my heart in the first one.  I am not saying who she picked you will have to read it to find out *hehe*  I am usually not okay with love triangles anymore but for some reason I am okay with this one.  The only reason I have to justify this is that Deebs has mad skills.  I really can't wait for the next one in this series!  If these past two in the series show anything it is that Tracey Deebs is a phenomenal writer and that the next book in this series should be nothing short of amazing!  What are you waiting for go get a copy!!

I have to say that I am really starting to like the dark and scary creatures that are crawling out from under all the romanticized ones. I mean killer mermaids?? What more could a girl ask for??!
Calder is a merman and to survive he has to steal emotions from humans, yes, this means he kills them. *shivers* From the beginning when I read this I was completely hooked. Like I said I am into the scary right now. So anyway, back to the plot.. Calder and his three sisters want revenge on the man that caused the death of their mother. They have been looking for him and hoping that he returns to the water so that they may avenge her. When this happens, Calder isn't prepared for his targets daughter and this throws a huge wrench in his plans.
Yes, there is a romantic plot thrown in, but I don't think it took away from the overall creepiness. It showed another side to Calder. I think if it had been ignored, it would have made him seem too cold. Calder and Lily were amazing and I loved how Lily didn't give into Calders charm right away. She stood her ground and that is hard to find in books these days. I also want to point out that Calders three sisters were just awesome. I know I am supposed to hate them and all, but you gotta love the twistedness of them. They were creepy and dark and I am very curious what will happen to them in the next book.
I think the author did a fantastic job interweaving old myth into the story. It was easy to understand and I felt myself believing every word she wrote. She really did an amazing job and I cannot wait to read the sequel!

My Thoughts:

 

Transcendence was amazing! I couldn't put this book down. There was so much mystery and suspense. If you are interested in reincarnation, this is a great pick for you. The unique storyline was so captivating. I simply can't say how fascinating this story is.

I actually think it would be just amazing to be able to remember past lives. To see how different the world has become through the years, centuries even. Cole and Griffon were two Akhet's, people who can remember who they were in the lives they've lived before. It's an Egyptian word that's been used to describe them for thousands of years. But there is also an Iawi Akhet, which they have had their memories for many lifetimes. This is what Griffon, the curly haired, Amber eyed hero is. The Sekhem is an organization that most of the Iawi Akhet belong to. They organize ways to give back. They try and help everything that the humans have helped screw up over the millennia, such as hunger, poverty, disease and climate change.

But not only do they have this amazing responsibility, but they can sense other Akhet's. That is how Cole and Griffon's journey began. It was so sweet and paced nicely. I liked the fact that Cole was just coming into her Akhet abilities and Griffon was there to guide her. He was a knockout! I just adored this character. He wasn't the hero that tried to whisk the lady off her feet and throw her in the sack. He was a gentleman. Respectful. I admired him for his sense of self-control. It was cute watching Cole go all mushy thinking about him and being around him.

There was a particular item in this story that holds a big piece to the puzzle. The mystery glimpses of the past are stepping stones to the final scene. This story was so well played out and so intriguing. I enjoyed the easiness of the writing and steady pacing. I can't wait to read the next installment. I seriously Can. Not. Wait!
